Sault Ste Marie — When asked by his daughter what she should bring to Thanksgiving dinner, an Ontario dad was not joking around when he told her some kind of pie and proof of vaccination.
She laughed it off because dad is always joking around about those kinds of things. It wasn’t until she and her husband showed up to his house Monday night armed with a pumpkin pie where he greeted her at the door and used his body to block them from entering.
“Pumpkin pie, good choice sweetie. And did you bring something else?”
She was momentarily confused thinking she was supposed to bring dinner rolls or something.
“I just need to see proof that you both have double doses,” he told them with no sign of being facetious.
Still thinking he was just messing around and being stoic, she tried stepping around him by putting her first foot in the door.
“Honey I need to see your receipts, I’m not letting you put us at risk!”
She informed him that she didn’t bring them because she thought he was kidding, not to mention they got vaccinated together. He told her he will take the pie in and she can run home and get them.
Stunned, she turned around with her husband and walked back to the car.
“Don’t forget your ID too, so I can match them up with your vaccine proof. I know you hun but I can’t be sure he is who he says he is!” dad yelled down the driveway.
While sure he was kidding about the ID, they weren’t taking chances. When they returned, he carefully inspected the vaccine documents and their ID at the door.
“Nice to see you have it all ready and organized. I already had to turn away your aunt and brother tonight. Come on in,” he said as if this all didn’t just happen.
