Toronto ON — Here we go again, it looks like George Springer may be heading back to the IL after he was left a bloody mess during an interview with TSN on Monday morning.
Springer, who has been out of the Blue Jay’s lineup since August 14th with a left knee sprain was excited to announce that he would be returning against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night when he misjudged how far away the reporter was standing and smashed his face hard off of the microphone. Blood could be seen coming through his fingers and possibly some lip matter laying on the ground.
This latest injury comes at a bad time as the Blue Jays are putting in one last ditched effort at making the playoffs. Springer has missed several games this season due to injury and it is expected that this lip contusion may keep him out for several more. Doctors will take a look at the mouth damage this afternoon before making a decision on his availability for this crucial series. We will keep you updated on this evolving situation.
