Indianapolis IN — When the Indianapolis Colts traded for Carson Wentz, they were hoping to at least get to the halfway point of the season before scrambling to find another quarterback. On Monday, those hopes were put to rest when he underwent surgery for a foot injury.
Coach Frank Reich told us he was shocked by the injury stating that he was sure it would be the knee again and not a bone floating in his foot. He said he expects the trainers to be back on the field in 5-12 weeks carrying him off with a more common injury. “I know it’s a 5-12 week timeframe but with his experience in recovering, we are expecting him to be wincing at the 50-yard line closer to the 5-week mark.”
The Colt’s ultimate plan is to catch lightning in a bottle like the Eagles did by getting Wentz injured, acquiring Nick Foles sometime during the season, and going on to win the Superbowl.
