Wawa ON — With all non-essential items blocked off, local son Darren was forced to think outside the box when it came to his Mother’s Day gift. He waited until the last minute and now all of the flowers were sold out. He had walked around the grocery store for over an hour looking for anything big enough to pass off as a gift. He passed on the 24-pack of Powerade because it’s too heavy and she doesn’t drink sports drinks. The taco kits were too skimpy to give as a gift and a box of Kraft Dinner was way too small and that is when he saw it. There was not just one box of KD but 12 boxes in one decorative case that basically comes wrapped in the best wrapping paper.
The surprise on mom’s face when she opened it could not be hidden or faked. She double-checked to make sure it wasn’t something else that was just wrapped up in KD packaging. No, it was definitely a 12-pack of Kraft Dinner.
“Believe it or not there are 12 boxes in there. They are all original flavour because I know how much you hate the sharp cheddar. Oh and you literally don’t have to buy any lunch for like two weeks now which is pretty sweet,” Darren told his mom trying every trick to make her believe it was awesome.
She replied, “that’s great Darren, now I can use the $100 gift your sister got me for the grocery store to focus on dinner items. Maybe I can buy 10 of those Kraft Dinner cases.”
Darren was happy he pulled it off and that his mother was happy with her gift. Hopefully next year the lockdown is over so he can have a few more last-minute options.
