Cambridge ON — Watching the ball in the air after his second shot on the 5th hole, Loris McCabe knew this wasn’t going to be good. He shook his head in the direction he wanted the ball to go but it was no use, the ball was headed directly for the sand trap filled with the Coronavirus. It was the one place on the golf course that had no Covid 19 and with his luck, he just had to put the ball there.
Loris was feeling good that day because he was going against Doug Ford’s order that golf courses be shut down despite being the most wide-open outdoor recreational activity imaginable. If you get too close to someone, you’re getting a golf club in the face. “There is almost no way you’re catching the Coronavirus playing on such a large surface,” he was overheard telling his golfing buddies before teeing off.
Looky here, now Loris isn’t looking so smart is he? His ball is sitting in a giant sandpit filled with Coronavirus and he now has a choice between playing it where it lies or having to get a new ball and shoot from outside the Covid bunker. Not playing it means he will most certainly lose and probably be razzed by his friends. Playing it means he will be guaranteed to flick up some COVID sand into the air and most likely test positive. Obviously, an easy decision, he played it. Unfortunately for Loris, the ball just went deeper into the sand trap.
After hitting it even further after another shot, he stormed off the course in anger and told everyone he hates this stupid game and is never playing again. For sure, it will be 14 days without playing.
