DUNEDIN FL — After shedding several pounds in the offseason to help his own game, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. once again was tasked with altering his appearance, but this time for a teammate.
It’s no surprise Cavan Biggio is having a tough time at third base for the Blue Jays having thrown multiple errant throws to first base. In an effort to meet halfway, Biggio has been working hard on his off-day practicing all day at third base while Guerrero Jr. spent the day pulling on his leg for hours. His goal was to add a few inches to the length of his leg so that he can stretch for any throws off the bag. To his surprise, after teammates tugged at his leg, he gained a monster 14 inches to his leg. It was such a long addition that nobody even knows where his knee is.
There is nothing more important to a team than chemistry and this gesture shows that they are thriving in that area. These types of things can often translate into better plays being made where Vladdy’s extra leg length isn’t even needed. For now, though Biggio can gain some confidence knowing that if he is a bit off, Guererro Jr. has a much better chance of reaching for it and getting the important out.
