Minneapolis MN — A CNN intern has been tasked with going door to door all across America in an effort to cover every gun story across the nation. Sometimes people don’t come forward with gun stories out of fear and their stories never get told.
” A lot of people are a bit apprehensive about their gun stories but I assure them that we fill up the homepage with so many shooting stories that most people read the headlines and don’t bother reading names, much like satire headlines,” the intern told us. “One of the biggest reasons stories never get told are people don’t even know it’s a gunshot. They may pass it off as a firecracker or a car backfiring, but we make sure they know that it was for sure a gun. Then we ask if they heard screams after and we can usually convince them that they did,” he continued.
It’s a time-consuming process but ever since CNN moved to such a text-focused homepage, they’ve needed more stories for every issue they are covering that week. If sharks are the hot story, we go into the ocean and follow all the sharks. The intern doesn’t have a quota for how many stories he needs to find but having enough to get us to the Derek Chauvin verdict or another massive story is the goal he was sort of being hinted at.
“One door at a time,” he shrugged.
