Ottawa ON– In what was already a depressing task, a Canadian statistician was dealt another blow after a chart of worldwide Covid-19 deaths revealed a different kind of casualty. The faded purple line representing Brazil was a sure sign someone left the lid off of the damn marker. To add insult to injury there were 18 countries represented on the graph and they only had an 18-pack of markers which meant switching colours was not an option.
“I don’t know how many times I tell everyone that when you finish with one color, you don’t even think about touching a new colour without securely fastening the lid, ” the anonymous statistician told us. “All I wanted to do is add a little color to all of these deaths and look what we end up with, more of a reminder of the all the doom that is this past year.”
Dry markers can be a real nuisance to anyone adding a splash of color to their work. You can just feel the marker dragging, sometimes making a squeaking noise as if it’s screaming for water. You tell yourself halfway through drawing the line that maybe it’s just a late bloomer and then continue to draw. It doesn’t come back, it never does. It’s such an avoidable problem that when it happens to you, you run a million what-if’s through your mind.
“This marker’s death will not be in vain,” the shy statistician said and that he will immediately order a 24-pack of markers. Brazil will be certain to get the most vibrant, solid color next time, you can quote me on that.”
