MONTREAL QUEBEC — After a Quebec judge ruled that the homeless community is exempt from the curfew rules, police will now have to make a judgment call on whether the frozen man on the sidewalk next to a cart and food sign is homeless or just trying to get around the curfew. There are a lot of kids out there who like to dress up in their raggedy clothes and to sleep outside just to stick it to the man. Premier Francois Legault had said there was no need for this exemption because police could use their judgment when handing out tickets to the homeless but as it turns out sometimes a lot of these people are hard to wake up to see why they are sleeping on that particular sidewalk. It’s just easier to let them sleep and throw a ticket over them and let them deal with it later. Several homeowners feel the rule is not fair because they are being unfairly punished just because they have a warm place to sleep. The Quebec government had said they won’t challenge this ruling but hope it doesn’t lead to the homeless catching any more breaks.
